Dear Parents,

We invite you to join us at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, August 31 for our annual Parent Night. The evening is a great opportunity for parents and staff to get acquainted before the school year begins. We will begin our evening in the church Sanctuary. At this time you will also be given emergency forms to complete and a Notary will be on hand to notarize the forms. After some words of welcome from Peggy you will go to your child’s classroom at 7:40. Teachers will review our curriculum plan and thematic units for the year. Our evening together should be over no later than 8:30 p.m. We hope to see you there.

OPEN HOUSE (See Attachment for Detailed Instructions) Friday, September 1 will be the children’s turn to visit school. We will have an Open House for the children beginning at 9:30 a.m.. Make sure you read the attachment for your child’s time. You are free to just drop by your classroom at any time during the Open House for your class. This will give the children a chance to visit their classrooms and meet their teachers and classmates. .

All 3 year olds and children “new to Garber” enrolled in our 4’s preK and TK classes can stay from 10:30 to 11:00 for a time to meet the teachers in our centers and see what that is all about. So plan your arrival accordingly. The classroom time should take about 30 minutes.

It is only a few weeks until school starts and we want your child to feel at ease from the very beginning. The following first day routines have been established to assure that your child gets the individual attention (s)he deserves on that very special first day of school, Tuesday and Wednesday September 5 and 6

Remember: MONDAY September 4 Memorial Day NO PRESCHOOL

Name tags: A Name Tag/Passport will be waiting for each child during Open House. You and your child will be greeted upon entering the classroom. The Passport Tags will also help identify the child’s classroom. This will help up keep track of who goes where until we learn everyone’s face and name.

Staggered Entrance: To help us greet each child individually we have planned a staggered entrance time for your child’s FIRST DAY. Some children are scheduled to arrive at 8:50 a.m. and some a little later. All children are scheduled to be at school by 9:15 a.m. Please check the enclosed class lists for your child’s arrival time. Please remember that this schedule applies to your child’s first day only. Our Transitional Kindergarten children will all arrive at 8:00 on their first day and all of our Four year olds at 9:00.

Early Risers Program: We will be offering our early risers program again this year. It will begin Thursday, Sept 7. See attachment. You will receive more information on this service parent night.

Photo of Family: We would appreciate your help with our unit by sending a photo of your family on your child’s first day. We have found that the photo is a good icebreaker and is one way to ease the child’s transition from home to school. Please send a photo that does not need to be returned to you.

Other Things to Bring: If your child is in the midst of toilet training, please be sure to let the teacher know. Everyone should bring an extra set of clothes for those occasional spills and accidents (including socks and underwear). If your child is in diapers, please remember to bring two diapers each time your child attends preschool. MMO, Toddler’s and Two’s are also asked to bring a container of wipes that will remain at school. Be sure that all personal belongings left at preschool or brought with your child are labeled with your child’s name. There is no real need for backpacks daily. We have Garber Bags for sending their work and projects home weekly.

Health and Emergency Forms: The Health Forms are available on our website through the church at www.connect2garberumc.com along with the Parent Information Pack and calendar.. Completed Health Forms are to be returned to the Director’s office. The Emergency forms will be given out during Parent Night and we will have a notary available then. Please be sure to have your photo ID and do not sign until told to do so by the notary. If you cannot attend that night it is your responsibility to have the form notarized. Emergency forms are attached and available on the website as well. You must sign them in front of the notary but you can fill them out before parent night if you would like. Remember to drop the completed form off to the classroom teacher by the first day of school.

Snacks: Classroom teachers will be contacting a parent to provide snack for the class during the first week of school. A monthly calendar will be sent home scheduling snacks on a rotating basis. Each child will provide a week’s worth of snacks for his/her class (if a T/Th class only on T/Th...). Please remember to provide enough snack for the class plus 2 (teacher and assistant). We feel snack is a relaxed time for teachers to socialize with children and work on manners. We appreciate all the hard work and thought that goes into providing nutritious snacks. It certainly helps keep our costs down. Remember to have snacks at the preschool by 9:00 a.m. and have it ready to serve. Guidelines for Snacks are in the Parent Information Packet.and suggestion in Snack Memo Attachments. If these guidelines are not followed you will be called and asked to provide a replacement snack by snack time.

Dismissal: Dismissal will be at noon from the classrooms. Please remain in the front hall until the double doors are opened. Take time to read the day’s activities that are posted in the hall. This information will help you talk to your child about what has happened at school that day. Always be sure the staff knows when you pick up your child. When picking your child up we ask that you refrain from using your cell phone so that you will be available to interact with your child and preschool staff.

Early Risers: The early drop off program will begin at 7:50 on Thursday, September 7. The fee is $4 per day.

Drive Through Drop Off: Drive through drop off will begin Wednesday, September 6 for those attending their second day of Preschool.

LUNCH BUNCH: This year we are going to offer it on Tuesdays- Fridays. WE are hoping participation will be strong enough to continue offering it on Fridays Lunch Bunch will begin on Tuesday, September 12. It will provide an extended opportunity for your child to stay at Preschool till 1:30 p.m. for $6 per day.

We look forward to seeing you on Parent Night. If you have any questions, don’t hesitate to contact us. Teachers will be recruiting Room Moms and Sun Shade Dads that night. So be contemplating if you can help with the classroom special events or help put up and take down the sunshades on the playground seasonally and before bad storms. Remember that your supply fee is due August 15 and your next tuition payment is due September 1. May you and your little ones enjoy the remaining days of SUMMER FUN and arrive at preschool safely.

Class Lists will go out in a separate Email today. So make sure you receive both.

PLEASE TAKE NOTE: THE CUT OFF DATE FOR OUR CLASSES IS IN KEEPING WITH PUBLIC SCHOOLS, OUR CUT OFF IS AUGUST 31 OF THE GIVEN SCHOOL YEAR. IN OTHER WORDS A CHILD MUST BE 2, 3, OR 4 BY AUGUST 31 TO GO INTO THOSE PROGRAMS. A TODDLER MUST BE 15 MONTHS BY AUGUST 31 TO BE IN THAT CLASS.

A Transitional Kindergarten student must by 5 by December 31.
