Our Mission

Our mission is the same as that of the early disciples: to make disciples of Jesus Christ. These are the marching orders from Jesus Himself.

"Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age.”

- Matthew 28:19-20

The How

We aim to make our life together defined by three simple principles:

LOVE GOD

LOVE PEOPLE

REACH THE WORLD

In LOVING GOD, first and foremost, at the center of our devotion and affection, the Spirit shapes us to be as God intended us to be: HIS. One of the primary ways we as a church express our love to the Lord is in our gathering to worship

In LOVING PEOPLE, we show forth Christ and shine light into this dark world. We aim not only to love with superficial niceties but with a sacrificial love that surrenders self. To love with grace and truth, those in the body of Christ and those outside the body of Christ. One of the primary ways we as a church express our love towards people is in our regular gatherings in Sunday School, weekday studies, in organized fellowship and the natural fellowship that we share day to day.

In REACHING THE WORLD, we seek to be God's hands and feet, providing for the needs of the people we meet. We aim not only to address people's physical needs, but the spiritual needs we all share which are only answered in Jesus Christ. There are many ways we reach into the community of New Bern and into the world around us, and an overview can be found on our Missions Page

The Why

People matter.

We believe that God is truly real, and that He desires relationship with all people.

Unfortunately we are a fallen race, a broken people who continually rebel against the One who made us.

Because of that rebellion we have damaged our relationship with God. God is just, and no amount of good we can do can erase the sins of our past.

The Bible says we are dead in our trespasses, but God, being rich in mercy, stepped in.

The Father sent His Son, Jesus Christ, who died upon a cross for our sins and was raised from the dead in victory over the grave.

Through faith in Jesus we can experience restored relationship with our Father,

and rest in the hope of eternal life with Him.

This truth drives all that we do.
